GE Grass GMO Free CT

An update from GMO Free CT

Dear Friends,

It is with very mixed emotions that I write this letter to all of you today.  This will be my last update as the leader of GMO Free CT and Chair of ConnFACT.  Leading the CT GMO labeling effort was the privilege of a lifetime that I will always cherish and carry with me to all future endeavors.

My personal motto these last few years has been “Taking Back Our Food, Our Government, and Our Children’s Future.”  Some of you may have already heard that I am running for State Representative in the 134th District (Trumbull and Fairfield).  I have always said our fight to label GMOs was about more than just labeling.  It is also about holding our government accountable and ensuring our elected officials work for us, the people who put them in office.  I realized that if I was going to talk the talk, it was now time for me to walk the walk.  I am running for State Representative so that I can continue to be a strong advocate and ensure our collective voice will be heard.  I am currently knocking doors throughout my district so that I can hear what issues concern my community.

I am thrilled to tell you that three incredible women will be leading the way from here.  Christine O’Day is taking over as chair of ConnFACT, and Beth Beisel and Elaine Titus are going to lead the GMO Free CT campaign.  All of them may be reached by sending an e-mail to  They are energized and full of ideas to carry us forward.

Happy 4th of July to all of you.   For me, this 4th of July is a time to reflect on where we are and what we can do better to ensure that Connecticut and the rest of our country blossoms again.    We live in a democracy, but it only works if we engage our elected officials.   Please continue using your voice.  I look forward to working with all of you moving forward.  I am grateful to all of you for being on this journey with me.

With gratitude,

Tara Cook-Littman
